Life Long Gift                                                    Please help us build a Family

Couldn’t your insurance cover this?

Unfortunately, no. Chris’s insurance covers a percentage of IVF treatment, but since Kim is not the IVF recipient and is unable to carry the pregnancy, insurance does not cover any of the procedure.

Why $25,000?

This is the cost of the egg donation, the in-vitro fertilization, counseling, and medications.  The pregnancy and birth will be covered by insurance.

Why now?

Kim and Chris are ready to expand their family. They have been ready for a while, but have encountered several road blocks. Then one day they received a wonderful gift from Jerri who volunteered to carry their child. J

Why not adopt?

Kim and Chris would like to consider adoption as another way to have a child one day. Certainly there are no costs on the lives of children, but adoption from a private agency costs more than the entire procedure. They also long for the experience that comes with child birth. Kim and Chris are ready to experience the entire development of their little one!

Is the surrogate (Jerri) being paid?

No, Jerri is doing this out of the kindness of her heart. She expects no payment nor will she financially gain from the proceeds of this website.

Is my contribution tax deductable?

Unfortunately, no. We are hoping we can change this in the future.

What is the preferred method of donation?

Check or money order is the preferred method as online donations are subject to a 2.9 percent processing fee. Check or money orders can be made out to Kimberly and Christopher Tissot @ P.O. Box 3534 West Columbia, SC 29171.

Please know that we appreciate any donations that are made.

What if your donations exceed the amount requested for the procedure?

If we are blessed with enough contributions to cover the procedure, every single dollar that is left over will be donated to couples who experience similar infertility issues.

What is In vitro fertilization (IVF)?

In Vitro Fertilization is commonly referred to as IVF. IVF is the process of fertilization by manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory. When the IVF procedure is successful, the process is combined with a procedure known as embryo transfer which is used to physically place the embryo in the uterus.

What is an egg donation?

Egg donors are recruited, screened, and give consent prior to participation in the IVF process. Kim and Chris will be using an anonymous donor. Once the egg donor is recruited, she undergoes the IVF stimulation therapy, followed by the egg retrieval procedure. After retrieval, the ova are handed over to the recipient couple, fertilized by the sperm of the male partner in the laboratory, and after several days, the resulting embryo(s) is placed in the uterus of the recipient.

Kim and Chris will also be receiving a donor egg from a candidate who has similar characteristics than Kim.

What is a surrogate?

Jerri is Kim and Chris's gestational carrier which is a type of surrogacy. It is when a woman carries the pregnancy to delivery after having been implanted with an embryo. There is no biological connection between the gestational carrier and the baby.
